Soul Veteran Etta James turns 73-years-old today but unlike most birthdays, this one is a fight. A rep for the “At Last” singer has asked fans to pray for the star, who was diagnosed with dementia. Earlier this month, news broke that James was gravely ill and undergoing treatment for leukemia in California. “It breaks my heart to see her this way,” the rep says. “But she is fighting. I just ask everyone to pray for Etta.” James has been out of the spotlight in recent years and has suffered from Alzheimer’s disease since 2009. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Grammy Hall of Fame in both 1999 and 2008. She has also won multiple Grammy and Blues Music Awards. |
