Nicki Minaj Rap Confuses President Obama ‘Not Sure’ If Nicki Minaj Is Voting For Romney President Obama is not sure about what Nicki Minaj really meant when she spit that line about voting for Mitt Romney on Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4 freestyle over “Mercy.” Though her shout-out to Romney seemed to be dripping in sarcasm, the line still got fans and even other artists into heated debates on Twitter, about whether the Trinidad-born, Queens-bred rapper was really going to throw her vote behind the Republican presidential candidate. Nicki herself hasn’t had much to say about the line, but during an interview with Orlando radio station Power 953 this week the president himself had a chance to weigh in. Obama couldn’t claim to know exactly what Nicki meant by the line, but we just learned that he has a pretty good understanding of the eccentric rapper. “I’m not sure that’s actually what happened,” Obama replied, when asked if he’d heard that Minaj might vote for Romney. “I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that, but she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there.” Clearly, Obama has heard of Ms. Minaj’s troublesome alter ego Roman Zolanski, although he admits that his daughters aren’t necessarily huge fans of the YMCMB rapper. “I don’t think they really listen to Nicki Minaj that much,” he said. “But let’s face it, they’re not hipper than me.” Nicki Minaj is gearing up to re-release her sophomore album as Pink Friday Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up in November with new bonus tracks.
