Tonight BET Hip-Hop Awards will be taped at the Atlantic Civic Center, will 50 Cent and Fat Joe end their long standing feud onstage?
Tonight, the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards will be taped at the Atlantic Civic Center, and I will like to predict that 50 Cent and Fat Joe will end their long standing feud onstage at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards. I predict that the two rappers will shake hands, hug, and kiss on the cheek (think 50 and Game) during a special tribute for their late manager, Chris Lighty.
IN 2011:
Bronx-bred rapper Fat Joe recently opened up about 50 Cent’s past claims suggesting that Joey Crack’s run in hip-hop has finally come to an end.
Although the feud between the two rappers has lasted for almost a decade, Joe shunned the perception of his career being over.
“Well I’ve been arguing with him for how long, five, six years,” Joe said in an interview referring to 50 Cent. “I still got concerts, 60,000 people, all that sh*t. I said like this, you know, last album didn’t do as well as we wanted to, but it was really because of the promotions and he was like, ‘Yo, Joe’s dead.’ So I said, if this album, I come with the first single with Young Jeezy, the hottest n*gga in the hood, and then I come with my second single with Trey Songz, the hottest R&B n*gga in the game. D*mn, what’s gonna happen when I’m alive? I’m supposed to be dead. So you know, I don’t really pay attention to that. I got my own fans, I got people who support me, I do very well and I’m blessed. By killing my career? No one could ever kill my career because what I do is make great music. So, it is what it is.” (Future iMag)
In late 2009, 50 talked about throwing the “death blow” to Joe’s career.
“[The public] is looking for the actual death blow to impact immediately,” Fif said in an interview with DJ Ekin. “The death blow, when I hit you with it, you gotta wait six months later. It’s dead. He’s dead. When I threw the death blow to Fat Joe, it was [2008’s] Elephant In The Sand and then six months later, new CD comes out and he sells 8,300 copies.” (My Place)
Last summer, Joe analyzed 50’s record sales highs and lows.
“Nah, yo listen man, I don’t pay attention to 50 Cent, he’s irrelevant,” Joe told rap personality DJ Vlad. “If you want to talk about record sales, he went from selling 10 million records to not even going gold his last album so he lost nine and a half million fans. The economy’s f*cked up plus he ain’t been making good music. All we doing is making good music at the end of the day. The reason Rick Ross is still around, the reason why Fat Joe is still around is because n*ggas is making good music. He just gotta step it up and make some good music. I don’t want to dwell on 50 Cent but I’ve never seen a guy have a classic album and make such great music, his material decline so much in hip-hop history, like I be thinking he’s faking us out or something. I’ve never seen no sh*t happen like that…” (Vlad TV)
Prior to selling over 12,000 copies of Darkside, Joe’s record sales were taunted in a video released by 50 last summer.
“I just listened to Fat Joe’s record and this is all I have to say.” 50 then puts up a copy of Fat Joe’s Darkside, Volume 1 which has an animated smiley face crying with tears pouring down its face. “I didn’t mean to do this to you Joe.” 50 then proceeds to mock his rap rival with footage of a woman and men crying, all taken from different sources. The video concludes with a message reading: “Only 5,000 copies sold…d*mn Joe!” (This Is 50)
