How Kidd Kidd Signed to Def Jam Records

Curtis Stewart better known as Kidd Kidd is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana currently signed with G-Unit Records. Kidd Kidd recalls how he signed to Def Jam Records as a member of the rap group, Squad Up. Kidd Kidd shared the group’s details unexpectedly meeting with the former Def Jam President who preferred to hear the group perform live to listening to their recorded songs in his office. The Louisiana rapper says he went from “Block,” to a first class flight that led him with the group sign with Def Jam Records.

Meeting with Jay Z

Kidd Kidd and the group went to Def Jam Records and they were in Jay Z’s office (former Def Jam president), he was like “Well let me hear y’all.” And that’s the thing. When they heard that, they went to get the songs to play for him. He responded to them by saying, “Nah let me hear y’all.” And that is how they got signed. The New Orleans native was discovered and affiliated with young money all time rapper Lil Wayne and appeared on Lil Wayne’s platinum selling single “Mrs. Officer.” featuring Bobby Valentino
Kidd’s talent did not stop as he signed to G-Unit Records where he felt he belonged alongside Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks and 50 Cent being the new kid in the block rising for recognition. He has appeared in numerous songs on 50 Cent’s projects and Tony Yayo’s single “Haters,” and now he is ready to run his show. He gets to his latest segment of “This is 50,” He tells how 50 Cent has been beyond a blessing to both his career and all round well-being. Kidd Kidd reflects after being shot just a week after meeting the mogul, saying that 50 was the second person to call him as he lay in hospital bed and helped him perform shows while in recovery. Kidd goes ahead to say that 50 cent’s work ethic is extremely motivating and working under him is the best experience in his life. His song “Everyday” paints the struggle he has been through, life in the streets that has made him view life differently motivating him to move places with music.
